It’s That Time of Year…

December 12, 2012

This week I’m going to take a small break from writing exclusively about money and student finances. Since it’s finals time, I want to talk about events on campus to help reduce your stress during the worst week of any semester. If you’re like me, you don’t always have the time to make food during finals. I crave foods like Cosmo’s Pizza and Chipotle when I’m completely frazzled from writing papers and studying for tests, so I end up eating out a lot. But like I’ve said before, eating out every day can cost a pretty penny (if you’re still skeptical, check out the Cost of Pizza Calculator at the CU Money Sense homepage. Luckily, CU has events for students that might help with your financial and mental stress.
There’s the annual Midnight Breakfast in the Alferd Packer Grill. I can’t recommend it enough, since they have free food starting at midnight, and free pool and bowling at 10pm in The Connection. The Midnight Breakfast starts at midnight, and you won’t just get Cheerios with an old banana like you might at a lame hotel’s continental breakfast. It’s much better than that – they have French toast, sausage, potatoes, eggs, fruit and more. Click on the picture below for more information.

In addition to the Midnight Breakfast, this article in the Colorado Daily lists a huge number of finals events that I wasn’t aware of. From free yoga and school supplies, free food and cheap coffee at The Laughing Goat, to chair massages at the Women’s Resource Center and mediation sessions by Counseling and Psychological Services, there are plenty of ways to relax and save money at the same time.
